I love My Valves

[Hacienda]

Just an Update. As Time passes, I am Breathing Better and able to Turn the clock back a Little. I can do a lot more without my Oxygen and so happy to NOT have to sit down constantly to catch my Breadth. Yesterday, I didn't use my Oxy once and even slept last night without it, I did have the Condenser on and Cannula ready, Just in case. This Morning I'm in a Garden Sunbathing Mood, Under the Parasol though. I keep tapping my chest and saying Thank You to my Shiny Blingy Valves, What more could a Girl Want.. ( well, Lungs. yes). But for Now I'm happy with my Lot...Wishing you all a Great Week End. Love n Hugs. xxxxx

I tend to go in the Garden with the Papers, do half a puzzle and bring myself back indoors, it's all part of the exercise routine to put Steps on my Fit bit. Hi Pat, Thank You, Yes, It was a Good Choice to go Ahead, I'm still on the Transplant List, have been for two Years now, this is a happy Interim to help with my Shortness of Breadth which had got so bad. They Last Two Years, in case I don't get my Transplant call. Hope your Heat is not Wearing you Down, we had 30 yesterday and I must admit all my Years in Spain in 40 /45 degrees hasn't given me resilience to this Heat. Still, I'm loving it under the Parasol. Hi Hun, Yes you will be Nervous as I was, I was "Borderline" but they still put 4 in instead of 2. Took 33 minutes they tell me, Woke up great and with time it gets Better. Good Luck xxx

hi hacienda i have had 5 valves put in one of my lungs, i thank god every day its amazingas copd is not the only health problem, those wonderful doctors at southampton hospital i cannot thank them enough they have changed my life , I was really depressed so it is great my husband and i have been together for 50 years and we have gone through so much to gether and if it was not for the really wonderful NHS i do not think either of us would be around so cheers to the NHS

What wonderful News to inspire us all. Yes, I agree the wonderful NHS and The Consultants and Nurses. How long ago did you have them ? I have been told they will Last for 2 years, they assessed me to have them as I am waiting Lung Transplant (listed 2 years now ). So, if I become one of the Numbers waiting too long on the List, They can replace the Valves. Wow, you have been with your Hubby 50 Years that is amazing, Congratulations . Im beginning to feel like the black sheep of the family its been nearly 3 months now since my consultant wrote to the hospital and still no reply .i see my doc on 27th of this month so i will voice my displeasure at the slow progress of my case .im glad your loving your new " bling"

Hi Dave, I do Remember it took quite a few Months(3/4) after My Consultant contacted the QE, before I was called to have a 4 day Assessment. I teamed up with another Lady also for transplant, she was Listed straight away,(had her TX 6 weeks after Assessment) whereas I had a Nodule on my Lung so had to wait another 2 months before another scan was done, once the Nodule had proved not to be anything bad, I then had to wait till they had their Surgeon/Doctor meeting to re-assess me. Luckily I was put on the List June 2016, I had the first Assessment February 2016. So, it can take a bit more time, be Patient, I'm sure they will contact you for your Assessment when they have everything Ready. Good News is My Assessment friend is Doing very well with her Lungs, we have always kept in touch. Good Luck, Keep us all updated Dave... Carolina XXX

Hi I'm trying to find information on the valves as much as possible I really would like my boyfriend to be able to get them he cannot do the lung volume reduction surgery because it's to spread throughout his lungs the damage but I do want to check into the valves is it even approved for the United States yet and if so where

Hi, Jules, I am pretty sure they have just been passed in the USA. Your Boyfriend would have to see His Lung Consultant. Not everyone can have them, depends on the Deterioration and Scarring. His Consultant can advise you Both. Good Luck Hun. xxx

Thank you it's worth looking into I know he's not a candidate for lung volume reduction surgery because of his sporadically spread through his lungs but hopefully maybe the valves will be different as to whether or not he's eligible

Morning Hun, I had 4 valves that worked for 9 Months, alas, I am now waiting to have them "Washed" or new ones inserted. My Consultant is now on Holiday, so Ill have to wait. will update when it happens.
