Where? That's miles away

I have been to see my specialist and he has said that all the tests done on the first occasion 3 months ago showed nothing concrete but the one's done in the past few weeks are conclusive in showing a rapid drop in oxygen sats down to 69%.

They have given me oxygen for night time but need me to travel to Nottingham Hospital to try to find out more about why it is happening and for a decision on if I might possibly require ambulatory oxygen, I have to say I am a bit taken back and Nottingham is approximately 3 hours away but if it helps me to carry on as normally as is possible then it is worth the drive, (just hope they have a Costa Coffee there lol.

Hi Ron. I am pleased to hear they are looking at this for you. Don't be scared of ambulatory oxygen. It is a lifeline to being able to get out and about without causing damage to your vital organs. Definitely worth travelling 30 miles for!

Nottingham has a very good respiratory unit. I know because the LAM action group is based there. Sorry it is so far away.

You made me laugh with Costa coffee, first I place I go to when I get to hospital!

I never thought of that, I have not been as yet appointment next month, will find that out before I go, I know I have to take my night equipment so what you said might be applicable

That is what is so hard about these appointments. I asked my doctor about getting into a rehab to get me started on a exercise program as being shut in all winter has done some damage now I am terrified of going. My youngest son said he would get off work that day to go with me but I hate to impose I am hoping it is nothing more then a little anxiety and that it will pass, good luck on your journey.

Morning Ronnie. I wish I could be transferred to Nottingham in Lincolnshire we do not at this time have a pulmonary consultant. It's very worrying last month the outpatients dept was chaos I've been waiting for a PR course for 15 months. Go travel. Jane.

That sounds awful not having a pulmonary consultant, I guess I have never stopped to think that there are some hospitals that cater for all medical conditions, and some that only cover a few medical problems, I guess I think everyone hospital deals with all problems .... how wrong I have been .... I ask so sorry and hope there will be one appointed soon to your hospital ☺

Hi Ron, Hope you get the answers you are searching for. Seems like we just get sent from one dr to another making them richer & us poorer. I live in the United States. Saw a lung specialist on 5/2 but havent heard from him. Inguess he is waiting for my return visit to tell me if tests told anything. Hang in there things will get better soon.

Hi Ronnie, I live in Nottingham and have been under the care of the City Hospital team for 5 years. I didn't realise at first that I was fortunate to live near a hospital with a specialist unit until I found that other people were travelling long distances to Nottingham. I have been to the unit you will be visiting for your assessment many times. The main difficulty (no surprise here) is parking. There are 2 large car parks where you can usually find a space but they are quite some way from the unit you need. If you have a driver, I would suggest they drop you off at the side entrance near the unit. You will see this on the map you will have received. There is a lift to the unit which is on the opposite side of the corridor to the stairs. Can't say I've noticed a Costa Coffee but there are quite a few coffee and snack bars and a cafe which I have never visited so I can't comment on the quality and provision there. Allow yourself plenty of time as Nottingham roads can be very busy at certain times of day and finally, watch out for the speed cameras - they are everywhere and they are active.

Thankyou Helen that is really helpful information, will heed what you say relevant the parking, I think it is a common thing at Hospitals, but hubby will drop me outside then park up, when we come out he will be saying "where did I park I can't remember " lol

I am not looking forward to it but I will be happy to find out reasoning behind things that are happening with the sat's dropping, and a better understanding for the Breathlessness,
