Hi I have recently been dianosed after two CT scans. When i was discharged from my Consultant i was fine. However after a couple of months i have been having a lot of coughing. My Asthma nurse put in on Mucadyne but had to stop cos it seemed to make things worse. I have been shown how to clear my lung from watching utube. After coughing last night for neary an hour and feeling exhusted i coughed up dark green thick mucus. I think i have an infection and started antibiotics which the A nurse gave me in case. Was this the right thing to do? Am i ever going to feel normal. By the was i am 78.

Welcome Gwiniford, if you feel you have an infection then try and take a sample of the mucous tomorrow and get it to your GP. It can be tested and then you will know if you have the correct antibiotics.
Wishing you well and let us know how things are. Xxxx
Welcome to the forum Gwiniford. If you feel you have an infection taking the antibiotics is the right thing to do. I was like you at the end of last year it lasted a few months, now I feel relatively fine, I'm 81. Lilian xxxxx
Hi Gwiniford I think you've had all this coughing because your body was trying to cough up all that nasty mucus you mentioned. Mucodyne ( Carbocisteine ) actually thins or liquifies the mucus making it easier to cough up. Certainly the colour of the sputum sounds like an infection and in your place I'd be starting my rescue pack or seeing the doctor. Take care, Sheila x
Like the others, I do think you should see your doctor as well as starting the antibiotics! Let us all know how you get on and hope you feel better soon.
