Does anyone recommend a humidifier ? have heard it can help but also heard its not a good idea to use one ,so bit confused :-\

yes but you have to keep them very clean, I use bleach or mold and mildew cleaner and i scrub with a tooth brush, I use one that does not require a filter they seem to be less messy , easier to clean, my c pap even has one on it. The air wont be so dry during the humid summer months and with the dry heat during the winter that was one of the first things the DR. told me to do
I was told by my pulmonary nurses that one would not benefit me so I never bothered. What I did buy instead and i think does help is a room purifier which takes out all the nastiness in the air such as fumes etc. Much cheaper to buy as well
I bought a Dimplex one from a company on line I use called J.D Williams was only £29 I use a fair bit of varnish for my hobby and its great to have on when I am doing that
