Your best bet is to see your GP and ask for an explanation. FEV1 is the amount of air you exhale in one second when breathing out as fast as you can. You are exhaling 44% of the amount that someone who does not have a lung disease of the same height, age and weight as you (i.e. a’normal’) would exhale. But you must get the proper interpretation from your doctor.
