It's been a long time since I bothered you lot with an update of what's happening with me , Lilian and our mad Jack Russel Toby. Last you heard we were in the Algarve area of Portugal for the long winter months soaking up the winter sun, but more importantly keeping out of the U.K. Winter weather. The problem with this lifestyle was that our " summer " accomodation in North Wales is a Static caravan on a non rental site costing us vast amounts of money for just 4 months residence per year before returning to Portugal.
Then while in the sun our caravan was costing similar fees but was empty during the summer months when the fees were highest but non of our family or friends wanted a cheap or even free holiday..
So the time has come to bite the bullet and use our non interest earning savings and buy, renovate ,furnish and move into a 2 bed bungalow near Rhyl. We have been back from Portugal 3 weeks , the house is nearly ready, all we have to do now is furnish it completely. . Having not lived in ricks and mortar since 2004 , ( canalboat 10 years , two caravans 4 years we have not a stick of moveable furniture) so watch out Llandudno branch of British Heart Foundation.
I have decided that however long it takes , and however many times I have to attend assessments and appeals I am applying for PIP. Last time I made the initial inquiry I was told I couldn't even have the application form as I " spent too long abroad". Reading about PIP this time it says that the care element might still be payable even if you are living elsewhere in the EU?????
Havnt been out in the cold since we returned.
Good to be back??? We'll see.

Good to hear from you after so long Chris, not many of us oldies posting now. Hope all goes well with the move and we have a decent summer for you. I'm getting stir crazy because it's too cold for trips out on my mobility scooter. Keep smiling.
Good to know you are back and to hear that you have found a new home in the UK. No doubt a lot of work to get it sorted out. Hope the PIP application goes well for you.
Welcome back Chris albeit tentatively lol. Hope you settle well in your new home. It must be very chilly for you.
Happy Easter, be well and good luck with PIP. Good to hear from you. Xxxx
Oh dear I just wish we could welcome your return to Britain with better weather but I'm hoping brighter days are to come ... Yes tell me about the no rental part of the whole caravan system in Towyn ...Sadly we parted with our much missed caravan due to the lack of using it due mainly to health issues but I sure do miss it ... expense overshadowed everything else on a 10 month site but not allowed to rent out .. As for pip now your back over here is there no advice you could get from cab regarding eligibility?I hope all goes well with your furniture searching as there are many good shops in Rhyl in particular ...enjoy and again welcome home xxx
Lovely to see you back, Chris. Is it just for the summer or more permanent? Whichever it is, do keep going on the PIP because your are right and it can be claimed in Europe, at the present time anyway.
Welcome back after living it up in sunny, gorgeous Portugal !! (Sorry about the "hint" of jealously). You sure have a lot to do,so it'll be great to learn of your escapades!!
Welcome back, happy Easter to you . Hope your new home gives you many happy hours like your travel has. Good luck with the PIP claim. Speak again soon . As Carole says the members on the site have changed but still some originals left on here.
