Going from 4 to 8 liters on oxygen seems to make him sneeze, cough, gag, and his nose run.

My husband has sever emphysema. He has a concentrator at home. he is on 4 liters if he is sitting and 8 if he is moving around. Going from 4 to 8 his nose starts running, he is sneezing....coughing, gaging . He is miserable for some time. Any ideas why? The company he gets his oxygen needs from doesn't seem to have any idea why. The company changed the filter in the concentrator and it hasn't made a difference. It doesn't seem to happen if he is on the tank when we go somewhere. Any one else with this problem and has an answer.

Maybe he will adjust over time Jan. 4 to 8 litres is a big change. Speak to his GP or expiratory nurse (who often know more than the GPs) if this continues.

Thank you ! He has been on this higher dose for some time. But the side effects of turning it up seem to be getting worse. The Doctor just looks at us.

Hi try going up in stages before he moves this will give him the chance to get use to the change first before he stands up
