I’ve got flight assessment at Hosp tomorrow. My flight is 15 April, I’ve organised Oxygen for Hotel Room via Linde Healthcare. Was due/paid to fly with EasyJet from Manchester but to save travelling to Liverpool I’ve decided to fly from Exeter and meet family in Hotel in Benidorm. I’m not having any luck with Oxygen on plane (may not need it, depends on flight assessment) I’m sure there is someone wh can advise/help me please. Hope I get info asap. Thank you. Lorraine

My airline doesn’t supply Oxygen for flight and I don’t know where else to try. I’ve contacted Dept Health, Air Liquide in UK...
The Easyjet website says:
"Medical oxygen
With the exception of emergency situations we do not provide supplementary oxygen. Small compressed air or oxygen cylinders are permitted in hand baggage for personal medical use only. Please note that they must not exceed 0.5 metres in length, with a maximum diameter of 250 mm.
You will need a medical certificate confirming the cylinders are required for medical reasons and that you are fit to fly. You are permitted to carry a maximum of 2 cylinders and they must be placed in the overhead locker or under the seat. If you are carrying oxygen cylinders please tell the cabin crew when you are boarding.
Oxygen concentrators (either mains or battery powered) are permitted on board and medical certification is required. Batteries will have to be used if you need oxygen on board (be sure the batteries have enough power for the duration of the trip, including possible delays).
Chemical oxygen generators are not permitted."
So your only option appears to be to to hire a portable concentrator. You will need medical certification and, of course, your travel insurers must be informed.
Hi Lorraine. If your flight assessment says you need oxygen on board you will need to rent an Oxygen Concentrator. I’ve got one before from a company called Pure O2 and their website is healthoxygen.com/. They’re very helpful.
You should be fine to take it on board any airline, but they all have different policies about whether you need to tell them in advance or not so you need to ring them and check.
Good luck.
Thanks for your advice. I’ve just had a flight assessment at hospital and will know if I need oxygen in aeroplane in a day or two. I will look at Pure O2 as you suggest and see what’s available should I need Oxygen. Can’t believe how difficult this has become. Organising a concentrator for Hotel has been a ‘doddle’ compared to flight.
Hi lorr61 I have just did the flight test last week and very surprised I passed I have Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and my oxygen levels fall to 80/82 which is very low the nurse told me she would not start it if it was under 92 but on the day someone was looking out for me and my oxygen went up the test was fine I got the certificate to fly We return to Majorca on the 10 April as we fly home to see our grandchildren 4/5 a year Ryanair will give you oxygen if you book it think is £100 return good luck with your test you will pass think positive
