I'm 45 found in 2012 I have COPD! I kept trying to quit smoking tips. Quit smoking and nothing seems to work? In December of 2017 I had breathing problems with to the hospital and they said psi wasb40. They diagnosed me with pneumonia 30 days I was in the hospital wasn't getting any better then they decide to give me a CAT. scan I found two blood clots in my lung. About a month ago and IVC filter prevent clots getting in my heart! I am also on oxygen now home . Sometimes I get in the pants because I literally can't breath why and I'm having a hard time accepting I'm going to be on oxygen the rest of my life.

I think yr motivations got to be yr new lung, which u wont get if u continue smoking.its hard but u will have support here frm others quitting, who know its very hard.perhaps, over weekend, weigh up pros and cons - ultimately its yr choice.with the reason u have, dig deep and youll find yr willpower.all the best

Hi I gave up too last year with the help of the Quit site. I used patches and the white inhalator from the doctors. I found it very hard having been a smoker for 44 years but with support I finally managed it. So can you. x

Do you have somebody living with you? It was my partner who got me to quit. He simply told me I had to live and I had to stop in order to live longer, so he put my cigarettes out of reach and dared me to have another one, it was tough for the first few days but I got there and that was around 13 years ago now. I am also on oxygen now 24/7. I wish you well

After all you have been through there may still be some improvement and perhaps you won’t need oxygen for the rest of your life but I think quitting smoking has to be your next step. I quit almost six years ago cold turkey after trying all kinds of ways to quit with no success, I never thought I would ever be able to quit and certainly not cold turkey, but just decided one day that was it and I had had enough, and never had another cig after that. Once I had made the commitment it was easier than I had ever expected. I know it is different for everyone and really hope you commit to quitting.

To be honest I think the best way to stop smoking is having the **** scared out of you! Way back in 2005 (after many years smoking and really enjoying it) I was feeling ill, breathless etc. I went to hospital and the doctor told me that I had pneumonia and also the start of COPD and if I did not stop smoking I would be walking about with an oxygen tank in 5 years. I stopped smoking that day, getting over pneumonia for a couple of months helped. I did end up with oxygen, but not until last year.

Dear Raidertder72, quitting smoking has to be attacked on 2 fronts, habits & nicotine. Change your habits by not smoking when you first get up or when you drink coffee. In other words, find out what you are doing when you have to have a cigarette and stop doing it but attack the habits one at a time. Nicotine is really tough because the only way to beat that is to decrease the amount of smoking. Change your brand to a lower nicotine content and keep lowering it until your smoking air. These two activities must be attack simultaneously and that is not easy. Put your cigarette in another hand and just keep changing but don’t go back to the old way. Not easy to break a habit but keep trying. Good luck, saramana.

Hi Raider, i quit smoking 14years ago. Best thing i ever did. And you must do it too. For yourself. I did it with the help of the lozenges also the white inhalator stick. Your meant to have 8 lozenges a day (think I had about 20) at first. 😊But, it worked! I still have an emergency e-cig for very stressful times. Knowing it's there helps. Please persevere, you,ll be ever so glad you did. Good luck 😊✌️🌻

Hi Raider, I quit smoking in 1974. You may well wonder why I am on here. It's because my problem started about 8 years ago when I inhaled acid reflux. Think how worse it would have been if I hadn't quit smoking. Do yourself a huge favour and pack it in. Now. Best of luck.

I supposedly went from 1 to 3 but to be honest i think i had COPD longer than 2013 I think i am doing better now but i have been put on the 3 in 1 inhaler Trimbo so could be this has well ,I am finding i have a lot less pleghm and not so wheezy and i could smoke a cig now even though its 6months now but i will never touch one again xx

I quit smoking long ago cold turkey. It was the most difficult vice ive ever quit. The first 3 days I felt sick like I had the flu. I mean bad enough that I stayed in bed nearly the entire time. Then each day got easier in how I felt physically. The mental craving lasted a long time. I’d gotten into the pattern of smoking with certain daily activities. Work breaks. If I had a drink. If I smelled someone light up. That being honestly said, I still quit because I knew I’d die if I didn’t!
