Inexplicable worsening breathlessness....?

Hi Everyone

Here I am asking for help again. I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis in 2012. I have had lots of tests and several treatments for infection with antibiotics over the years. In September 2017 - I had a massive bleed from my lungs whilst I was driving and was hospitalised for 4 days - CT scan showed a lot of blood in the lungs but a bronchoscopy in November 2017 showed little deterioration and no current or latent infection - e.g. TB. However, my breathing has gotten a lot worse but my consultant is at a loss to understand why... me too... I have noticed that the breathlessness is worse in the morning and bad when i bend over to put on socks, shoes, etc. Also worse when I hold my arms out to carry something - e.g. fill the kettle for a morning cuppa - even typing at computer keyboard (plus the more obvious activities - walking up small incline - mounting stairs, etc.) Any and all help/advice greatly appreciated as always.

Kindest regards, Swimmer

Hi, Swimmer. Have you seen a physiotherapist about clearing your lungs - or is that not an option with the massive bleed you had? Was the consultant able to say why you had the original bleed? For example, blood thinning medication, or allergy?

Hoping you start to improve.

Hi Ergendl. The consultant told me the most likely cause of the bleed was a ruptured blood vessel(s) in the lung - not sure of the cause - possible trauma due to coughing. She has not suggested physio and the CT scan was uninformative really. I will be having more lung function tests next month which may bring something to light.

Thanks for your kind wishes
