Hello Sanpete and welcome to the forum.
I think it's the same thing. I'm so sorry about your diagnosis. Please do come here regularly, it's a great place to ask questions, get support and give support.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi.
Pulmonary means “lungs” and fibrosis means “scarring” so Pulmonary Fibrosis and lung fibrosis are the same thing.
It just means “scarring of the lungs” and it is a very general term that covers lots of conditions.
The important thing is finding the cause of your fibrosis and then that is what can be treated.
IPF is what people are worried about, because the “I” stands for “idiopathic” which means the scarring happens with no obvious cause and can’t be treated.
Some have Fibrosis caused by immune system disorders that can have more successful treatment.
In others the scarring is caused by exposure to toxic dust or chemicals (asbestos) for example and may not get worse once no longer exposed.
There are a variety of other causes and treatments that go with them.
I have a type of Pulmonary Fibrosis caused by an allergic reaction, probably to mould and dust.
So you need to find out more from your doctor before you worry too much.
Good luck.
