Hello,has anyone any advise for flying long haul with Bronchiectasis? My husband was diagnosed 2yrs ago and with treatment he has been very well but got a chest infection at the moment, first one for a long time. Our daughter moved to NZ and we really want to visit her. Any advise?

You need to discuss it with his Medical Advisors and he may also need a "fitness to fly" certificate to be provided to the Airline. Is he using Oxygen? If so, this would need to be arranged. And do bear in mind that all existing conditions must be disclosed to your travel insurer.
Hi Cmcna, I've been diagnosed with bronchiectasis for over 14 years now and travel to and from the Caribbean frequently. Not as far as NZ but a long flight. I manage this fine. I'm not on any oxygen. I do have travel insurance and as you can imagine we do have to pay a premium 😩 But I'm grateful I can still get cover to travel. As I have not had any hospital admission in the last 7 years this helps with the travel insurance cost. As advised I would check it out with you Dr. Explore the fitness to fly certifate, although I've never had one of these! 😲
