I am presuming that you are talking about FEV1% with a number.

FEV1=Forced Evacuated Volume in one second, with a percentage of what a normal healthy person, the same sex, age, height & weight would have.

When you have a spirometry test one of the things they measure is the amount of breath you can breathe out in the first second of your blow into the machine, It is called the Forced Expiratory Volume (FEV1). It is expressed as a percentage (FEV1%) of the total breath out. Once this is known they can tell you what level your COPD has reached.
