Just to let you all know my dad Tony passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning. I will write a longer post when I have the energy. I will say now that he had accepted that it was his time and the plan was to move him to a hospice. It happened more suddenly than expected. The nurse said that moments before she had asked him how he was and he had smiled and given her the thumbs up. Smiling and happy until the end. A true hero. The nurses told us it was very quick and peaceful so think of him and smile.
Lots of love to you all, your support to my father throughout the years has been a vital part of his life and I know you were all so so important to him and his fight.

How awful and shocking - I somehow thought Tony would live forever. It didn't seem possible that he would pass. Yes I will smile but Im crying too. Tony - our friend and your dad - was amazing, I don't have the words to say how much he meant to us here. His music, his countryside trips, so much he gave us from a life well lived despite such challenges. Your last sentence can be turned around - he gave us all so much support and love, so much fun, and so much to remember. Thank you for letting us know Sophie and sending you and your family love, strength and very sincere condolences. xxx jean

So sorry to hear this, he was always so cheerful and I loved the way he continued his trips to the Malvern's - so determined not to stop enjoying the things that he loved doing. A very sad loss for you and the rest of the family, and for all of his friends, he'll certainly be missed here. It seems fitting that he left with a smile and a thumbs up. Not our Tony. It's too much to bear. He was the heart of this group always keeping us smiling with his exploits and his positivity. I am so sorry and I am thinking of you all. R.I.P. Tony you lovely man. Bev xxx
This is just heartbreaking news and right now it's impossible to imagine a world without Tony in it. I last heard from him about a week ago as we tried to keep our spirits up about being in hospital. I sent him a few lines of The Animal's Song 'We Gotta Get Out of this Place' and with his customary good humour he was amused.
Sophie, I can't begin to imagine your pain and your mum and your brother's pain. You have lost the most wonderful father and husband and your hearts' must be broken. My sympathy and love to all of you.
I've not been on hu. much anymore. One of the members I thought about most, was your dad. Such an inspiration to everyone. He tried so hard to be fit for his transplant. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your dad was really special. Rest in Peace Tony

I am so so sorry and send love to you & your family.

Please know we are all with you in your grief. My Mother's first anniversary is fast approaching on the 15th, so I'm acutely aware of how you will be feeling. Love and strength to you all at this difficult time. But glad for Tony, as he is no longer fighting. He deserves to rest in eternal peace now. Will be thinking of you over the coming weeks as you prepare to say goodbye xx
Sophie, I heard about Tony's passing from a mutual friend on Wednesday morning. I was so sad to hear it. I have missed our chats at the weekly Fit to Breathe sessions. Libby has been giving us regular updates each week. Such an inspiration and a real fighter. I first met Tony in an aisle at Morrisons, both of us with oxygen cylinders. He just said "snap". I was recently diagnosed (almost 4 years ago now) and about to start going through the transplant assessment process and his wisdom, experience and fortitude were so inspirational for me. Our next meeting of the IPF Support Group which Tony was instrumental in establishing late last year is next Tuesday. it is newly formed and growing at each meeting so far. It's continuing success will be a worthwhile and, hopefully, lasting tribute to Tony.
Sincere condolences to your Mum, you and your brother and Tony's Mum who brought him along to so many Fit to Breathe sessions in the last 12 months or so. God Bless.
That is devastating news and I am so sorry to hear that. He was an inspiration to everyone here and will be missed terribly. I think he offered much more to those here then he got from us.
RIP our dear friend.
My condolences to you and your whole family. There really are no words to adequately describe how I feel.
So sorry to hear this. I’ve not been on the site for a while but I have popped in now and then to see how folks are doing. I’ve followed Tony’s posts for a long time, walked with him, sang with him and enjoyed the beautiful scenery he was so proud to show us. He was truly inspirational and was determined to enjoy his life no matter what was thrown at him. He will be greatly missed by his family and his family on here. Sending condolences and special thoughts to all his family. He’ll be rocking on and livening up wherever he is. Much love and best wishes. Christine. XXX

I loved Tony's posts especially the ones when he was out and about and gave a very descriptive and interesting account of his adventures. I don't come on here as much as I used to but always made a point of visiting Tony's profile when I was. So sad, a great loss to many. xxx
I am crying. Your dad was such a special person, as you well know. The world is a poorer place for his loss. RIP, Tony. We will all miss you a lot. xxx
Absolutely gutted by this news, a light that burned so brightly has been cruelly turned off. We shared a common interest in lower league football and real ale, and I so much regret that I never got to meet this hugely courageous human being. The world is a much poorer place today for his passing.
Dearest Sophie, my deepest and heartfelt condolences to you, your brother and especially your mum , Tony adored you all so much and was so proud of you all. Treasured on here are the memories he shared, over years, the music, the chuckles, huffing & puffing on the treadmill, singing his head off (oh his singing 😁), trips over The Malverns, the country lanes, by the river in Worcester and of course your granpa's garden. The best memory for me is meeting up with Tony, PollyP & Frose & for Tony to take us on a tour of his precious hills - I was the one forever falling on my rear - it was a lovely exhilarating afternoon followed by tea at the caff.
Be assured that many of us here will never, ever forget your lovely caring sharing Dad. ❤️ One in a million. Huge love, Penelope/Pen
Everything I would wish to say about Tony has been said - his wonderful videos lifted my spirits when at a very low ebb, he spread joy and wisdom like fairy-dust, he will be so missed and the world is a poorer place today. My sincere condolences to you and all the family.
