Claiming pip

Hi everyone, I'm back and hoping someone can answer my question.

As I've said before I have mild emphysema, recently had gallbladder removed and also suffer severe gastritis. I work as a community carer, and I am finding it more and more difficult to do my job properly and my Client list is getting less and less. I suffer with depression although on medication for it, but I feel I'm going downhill mentally again as I'm constantly worrying about finances. My question is, does anybody know if I would qualify for pip? And would I still be able to keep some of my work on if I did qualify?

PIP is about How your illness affects You, Not what conditions you have

Hi I'm foxy79

RE pip reply nanapenny

Firstly sorry to hear about your health and welcome to the the group hear will try to advise or tell you what you we know as there's certain criteria to get pip different amounts of money I don't know how long is claim for are you intieteld to benefit and no you can't work at all if you are on. Pip as it all depends on your health and what have submitted paperwork don't stress these things take bit of time but they backdate your entitlement they check with hospitals doctors etc even ask you to go down for medical test if needed mainly only we can say that you might be accepted knowing what how you gave rest is on the official who will see your paperwork and decided your entitled or not and how much hope it answers it I hope things work out for you 👍

The above information is unfortunately wrong you can work and claim PIP

”Disability living allowance (DLA), personal independence payment (PIP) and attendance allowance are payable whether or not you are working. They are not means tested, so earnings do not affect the amount of your benefit. ... It is possible that your care needs may actually increase if you move into work.”

Do phone the BLF help line and claim you have nothing to lose. Barbs x

Thank you for your replies. I just feel they would think I'm not bad enough. Even though I can't hold a conversation for long, without stopping to catch my breath, have to walk at a slow pace and seem to be having more flare ups.

Hi nana penny. I am in a similar situation with copd and rheumatoid arthritis. I have been reducing my hours at work because of the pain in my hands due to arthritis. I looked at the gov uk page for claiming pip and don't think I'm bad enough either. Looking at the questions, I am able to do most things on the list, although very painfully. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Hi

I would ring the help line, you have to be able to complete a task or walking, without pain or breathlessness.

Citizen's Advice are experts in helping filling the PIP claims forms if you need help.

If you are in employment where you are quite physical and don’t need help from others, you might struggle to gain even the lowest rate. You can work and get DLA and PIP but you would normally need help to walk or other assistance.

There has just been a high court ruling regarding people with mental health issues getting PIP for getting around, so you never know. It doesn’t cost anything to apply nd there is a really good website called, ‘disability rights Uk’ which has a lot of information regarding claims for different benefits.

The CAB is good at helping you to fill in your forms and make sure you say how you feel on your worst days. Don’t make out your ok when your not.

Good luck!

If You are on PIP then you can work and it is not means tested. However if you are unable to work but not old enough to retire then you can claim ESA Employment Support Allowance. This does state that you can work but in permitted workplaces? (They are so badly defined and half the work coach's do not know what they are?) Depending on what ESA you get Support or WRAG?

Support: means they do not think you are able to work so do not need to go to "sign on" They can Review you anytime they feel prudent.

WRAG Work Related Activity Group: Means that you are capable of some work and will attend meetings with a work coach that is trained in disability Employment.

You can Claim PIP and ESA as long as you meet their different criteria.

If you are in a Universal Credit Area it does change again I am going though this at the moment and it is not going smoothly at all,but onwards and upwards
