Pleurisy?

I plan to book an appt with the Dr but I am getting pain in my left rib when coughing. It hurts to bend over and I am coughing alot of phlegm up. I have palpitations too. Also pain in the left side of my upper back. For a it sound like pleurisy please?

Hello Jane. This could indeed be pleurisy, or pneumonia, or a chest infection, or pneumothorax, or a pulled muscle or....so many other things. Only your docs can diagnose you after they examine you. Do rest as much as you can until you get some help.

Thankyou for replying. Well I had a viral infection back in November and thought I was getting better but the coughing up phlegm and pains in left rib are recent.

Had pleurisy since Christmas off work for another 3 weeks yes sounds like it to me but please go to your doctors ASAP

Sounds like a lung infection, go to A&E and have a chest xray
