Hello everyone. Do you think it would be ok to take 2 10 mg of cetirizine? I am at my sons for xmas lunch tomorrow and I am allergic to his cats, even though they won’t be in it’s in the air

Thank you

Isn't the usual dose 10mg? Provided that doesn't interact with your other medications, why not? As long as you've not had problems with it before, of course. A cat allergy is miserable so I understand why you want to avoid it.

It is the usual dose but I’m sure I got 20mg off the doctor but can’t remember 😦thank you for your reply 😀

It might be best to stick to the recommended dose, especially as it's Xmas Day and you don't want any sudden side effects causing you problems.

I wouldn't recommend taking double dose! 10mg every 12 hours is the dosage.

I use cetirizine as a sleeping tablet as half a tablet, 5mg , knocks me out. I even have to take the 5mg at 6pm to ensure I don't sleep right through to 10am next day.

Must be very tricky for you, good luck. P

I have been given that dosage in an emergency when my tongue was swelling

Do you have pred at home? It is better to take 1 zirtek and 20 mg pred, that’s what my doctor told me.

Yes I do have them good idea thank you I was kind of dreading it 😦 I will try that it’s worse if they have the heating on can’t breath at all !! Have a lovely day x

However Wendy if you can’t breathe well enough take your usual emergency pred dosage, I have a 40mg emergency dose then I have to phone in the GP surgery or on call service.

Hope they keep the cat outdoors and the heating down!!! Xx
