Heard on news that Christine Keeler had died age 71 - no mention of cause - but then read Guardian article where her son says she had COPD and had been ill for some months: theguardian.com/uk-news/201...

Christine Keeler/COPD
Hi
Interesting story which most of us would know
Just two lines to the illness and cause of death.
She had been ill for several months, and suffered from the lung disease COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
Probably doesn’t sell as many papers.
I remember the Profumo affair..well sad end to a strange life..
A heroine IMO. Unwittingly played a huge part in bringing down a certain political party. And she was the one to go to prison, scandalous. Iconic photograph. That chair is now in the V&A.
May she rest in peace now, with condolences to her family.
Jonny Halliday, the French Elvis, also died yesterday. Of lung cancer.
She was 76 in February.
There was one photo of her in a beige jacket in one article ,in that the hands looked strange .Enlarging he picture you could see how blue her fingers were ,it was obvious from that what the diagnosis would be.
Jo.
I remmember that time.. Nowadays it would not be such a big deal, many of our eminent families have done lots worse, mentioning no names, of course. Even divorces made headlines then and, of course fags were cigarettes in those days and did your image good ! I hope she passed away with peace, Polly X
As always Lung disease as a cause of death is barely mentioned, if at all. Whereas cancer or heart attack is generally part of the headline information on a person. It makes it hard to get people to understand the severity of lung disease. Trouble is it’s not sexy!
