My husband is back in hospital following an admission for pneumonia a few weeks ago. His lactate levels are high and they are not sure why. Has anyone else had this and can tell us what to expect?

Hi Thomac
It is common to measure lactate levels when one has pneumonia to assess the extent of the infection. They will decrease with the treatment.
Why? There could be a bacterial cause or a metabolic one but they will find out, don’t worry xx
