Hello everyone and hope everyone is well. Got a question if yous dont mind. Been to doctors and got another chest infection (have copd and asthma), got steroids and anti Bs again. The little item that is placed on your finger for oxy levels, my recent ones were 95 and these ones I have just had done were 86. What level are they supposed to be just out of interest please?

Thanks everyone

Hi Rob I have to monitor my oxygen with a pulsoxymeter..good to 95..I do drop at night or early morning to 93/92. I must have the apnea test soon.

Under 90 definitely contact the doctor.

Take care and let us know how you are getting on x

Thankyou for the reply. It was at the doctors where I had it taken. Ive got a chest infection so I was assuming thats why its lower this time.

Okay.,Good you were there already then! Yes I think you are right, the infection probably lowers your oxygen levels.

Hope you feel better soon 😊

Sorry I don’t know about copd I have another lung disease called LAM..

Lovely idea the sax!!! So much more fun than blowing bubbles in a glass, which I am supposed to do 😃

The last time I was tested in hospital for O levels mine was in the 90’s and I was told it had to be in the low 80’s before I would need oxygen. My IPF started about 2 years ago

A normal ixygen level would be 98. I generallt operate at 96/97. When i have an infection it goes down a little aound 94/95. During asthma it can drop below 90. I am supprised they did not send you to hospital if below 90 as it is not good for your organs or brain.

Take care and hope you feel better soon.

I believe that anything 88 or above is O.K. I am usually 88-92 which is fine for a COPD sufferer - my wife (who is very fit) scores 98/99!
