Hi everyone. I gave up the idea , Thanks to everyone who sent me info. it got me Down having to jump thru too many hoops. We bought an Inogen G3 after much deliberation. Crux of the story is the travel agent wasn’t , nor were we to book and pay for flights before getting the all clear seems we had to give Delta and Virgin booked flight details so they could assess how much battery I needed I was going to take 2 16 cels + an 8 cel
Frankly I gave up. Sam

Thanks Stone I’m going start next March for a trip to US in May 19. get a fitness to fly first then book, my GP and her secretary had never heard of fitness to fly procedures befor ?. I’ve never seen a consultant befor just a brief fly past whilst I was in hospital last September. If I may in this reply thanks to everyone who gave advise and yes I’ll check BA out. Sam
Hi. I recently flew to Singapore with BA. Before I flew I had a pretty bad flare up and it was thought I would need oxygen on flight. Free of charge BA were going to provide oxygen all the way to Singapore. In the end my fit to fly test said I could fly without oxygen so I did. However, I did get very breathless during the flight and was told if I needed oxygen then it would be available. Have you checked with BA?
Ask your consultant to organise the fit to fly test for you, if you haven't got to pay have it now then you will know how much oxygen you will need during the flight and then you can have it done again thirty day before you fly to make sure its still okay.
Have you checked the traveling insurance for cost as they charge more if you use oxygen and if you are going to the US.
I don't want you to give up and you have plenty of time to research everything and get it all sorted now.
Hi Maureenpearl firstly the fitness to fly in Suffolk costs £300, don’t know how long the results lasts for tho ? Yes that’s what I have to do first thanks for reply Sam
Hi Samjeff
I will be facing the same as you, I have my daughter in America and my son in Australia so I am as you finding out about travelling whilst needing oxygen.
I have only contacted BA and AA and awaiting their guidance about in flight oxygen.
I have found an oxygenot company in America so will contact them with regards the Hire of a portable oxygen machine
Wish you every success with yours and will let you know my outcome
Hi in 2016 with our last visit we rented small cylinders in US it was not expensive gave us carrying case too had to have doctors letter saying what rate flo pulse or etc we faxed that to them I’ll double check the name of the place could have been Intermedical in Milwaukee think they are a world wide company. Virgin Airways were very helpful but our return flight we were put on Delta they share flights they did not carry Oxygen unbeknown to us so I had to wing it or swim ha . Scrapped this Septembers visit as had to get all this paperwork from two airlines too much for me right now. But planning on next May so will start researching next Feb. All the best yes please let us know how you get on Sam
