Morning everyone. yesterday I was asked over the telephone if I was a mature lady. Replied "still ripening!" ( I am in my 80's with NSIP). I have decided to think and keep positive and do something different each day. However, have to say, hard to think of something that I would not do at some time during the week. As mobility and breathing a problem, made up my mind to learn Spanish and or French. not yet sure which as yet. Has anyone heard of Babble? it is a foreign language course company. I have only heard of a website called babblefish that does translations, it may be operated by the same people.

thank you 2greys will look it up later today. Did look at one sight Rosetta but it is sooooo expensive. only decided yesterday to learn a new language, or rather re-learn after so many years of not speaking or reading it. So still looking into which would be best or to be honest easiest. cheers

Have you looked at the future learn courses.....most are free on line unless you want to pay for unlimited access or a certificate at the end.

At the moment I am enrolled on a Food as Medicine course , but there are many more.

I have heard of Babble but not tried it. I downloaded a learn Welsh app previously too.

i have babble,i think i got an introductory deal and costs about £30 for a year.i do speak and write a little Spanish and i would recommend it at any level and of course being online you can go at your own pace and repeat stuff that didn't sink in first time.I have no known interests in the company so my recommendation is an honest one..................regards skis and scruffy gata x

thank you Skishool. I had not heard of Babble so was a little doubtful. But you are not the only one who has used it. Someone else I know said his sister used it for Italian and found it very good and not that expensive. thought needed something to do on the long cold dark evenings, as tv is not that interesting most of the time. and even part of some of those days when things are not quite going the way you want and I do not want to do the housework! thanks again. cheers.

thank you Juney 99 I have decided to try Spanish first to see how I get on, but have made a note of your recommendation. who knows, by the end of the winter, I shall be fluent in one or other. hahaha, cheers.

if you decide just to expand your mind I would recommend Future Learn where you can do free courses - from 4 to 6 weeks on many different subjects. I have done ones on Richard 111 and Wordsworth, codes and tech and medicine and am currently doing Shakespeare and Humphry Davy (although finding 2 course a week hard going - as both so interesting) anyway just a thought - good luck whatever.xx

thank you Undine. that is interesting. will look at that later this morning. might try to run one of those courses against the Spanish. that way will not get too blogged down and then give up out of frustration, boredom or cannot be bothered anymore. blessed be. cheers.

Hi have you tried the u3a? The may have some language classes near your home.
