Hi Dave...i was diagnosed with copd in January 17 ....not at the the hospital with my GP surgery ...due a check up spirometer and x-ray in January 18 again hope that helps you a bit I know other ppl will have different scenarios but that's my plan good luck Angie xxx
Ok
Do you have a consultant Dave? If you have been seen at the hospital before it wouldn't do any harm to ring the consultant's secretary and ask why your appointments have stopped.
Hi
Hospital appointments are by referral, if the consultant is happy with the level of treatment he/she will discharge you back to your GP.
Depending on severity and how your are managing the condition he/she may arrange a annual review. At the surgery with a respitory nurse.
It appears from your post that you have good control?.
Have you visited your GP, in the period you have mentioned, have you had any kind of medication review, either by your GP or Pharmacy.
I would share any concerns regarding your treatment with your GP.
Ok thanks
I have never been checked by a specialist at the hospital, I have a yearly spirometry test by the practice nurse and that's all, she tells me the results and the last one said I was at end stage, and that's all I know. Not much help to you really, sorry xx
Hi Dave, I do not attend the hospital now since 2011, but see my GP every three months and they check my COPD / Asthma once a year. Hope that helps answer your question. Every patient is different and how each area treats patients varies.
Ok thanks
I used to have a check up once a year with doctor but last few years see the Nurse at the chest Clinic at local hospital have an appointment every March. Ask at your surgery if they can refer you to the Chest Clinic i would think you should have a test at least once a year.
