Laughter is a good thing. Scientists tell us that laughter, humor and joy are an important part of life. Laughing lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, and increases muscle flexion. It increases the circulation of antibodies in the blood stream and makes us more resistant to infection.

It gives you more health benefits, because you can choose to laugh heartily from deep down in the belly. This is important from a health perspective, because laughter acts as a pump and the heartier it is, the bigger its impact. Deep diaphragmatic breathing stimulates the cleansing of the lymphatic system by creating a vacuum effect that pulls the lymph through the bloodstream. This increases the rate of toxic elimination by as much as 15 times the normal rate31. In daily life, deep belly laughter is rare and generally short-lived when it does occur.

So happy laughing at least once a day!! 🀩🀩🀩

Oh my, lol yes that can be an entertaining day with this age lol they keep you on your tops lol 😘😘

I find laughing too much leaves me feeling really uncomfortable as my lungs get hyperinflated. A laugh or two is fine, but if I watch really funny films that have me laughing hard again and again then I really feel like my chest is about to explode for the rest of the day. I wondered if anyone else had noticed this? I think it's part and parcel of having severe emphysema.

Oxy Scouse is a very good mate to have. You’ll be β€˜made up’ when you get your new lungs. Others might not understand the made up bit πŸ˜€ It must be hard work having visitors but a great distraction and I bet they’re pleased to see you x

Hi Georgina, Just come back to my Computer, been reading Sunday papers.

Yes,My Daughter and one of my Granddaughters will be here October and and a few for November and Christmas. I can't Wait, can't Hug, kiss or Cuddle them on Skype. I have a large Family in Spain, My Grandchildren are Spanish. They have all been here numerous times since I was Diagnosed (2013) and as my Lungs are Deteriating, no doubt they will come over more often, until I can get myself over there to them, which is my Goal. So many of us on with different stages of COPD, BUT, Everyone is so Brave and keeps our Spirits up as we gee each other Along. Thank you Dear Georgina and Friends. xxxx

GeorginaS profile image
GeorginaSβ€’ in reply toHacienda

Lots of good times to look forward to. You’ll have a fabulous time. It’s good they take time to come and see you. Things must have been tough along the way from 2013. You’ll get there and you’ll be able to enjoy the warmth instead of the rain we’ve got here today.

You’re right, everyone is very brave. No idea how people do it but someone we do.

I don’t have COPD. I have a rare lung disease with a long name and very few people around the world get it! Trust me!!! It’s nonspecific interstitial pneumonitis! People think it’s pneumonia related but it’s not.

I reckon we should all be issued with bravery tablets! I think some days I could do with them!!

Enjoy your Sunday xx

i currently live alone, though out of love for mankind i have adopted a lodger called Hernie and even though i have a 3 bed roomed house with ample space he has decided not to use a spare room but reside with me in an area slightly lower than my belly and diaphragm muscle.i am a great fan of humour and nothing pleases me more than a good belly laugh.Unfortunately Hernie is not of the same disposition and consequently on the first indication of a good belly laugh and to avoid having to stay around to share that laughter he is prone to pop out and do his own thing at it's imminent approach. This is neither amusing for me or indeed friend Hernie. In order to maintain universal equillibriam some amazingly talented people with sharp knives are soon to relocate Hernie to a new home within a suburb called the inner stomach.I am sure that Hernie will enjoy his new home and i will no longer be troubled by my renewed belly laughing. So we will both live happily ever after...................skis,scruffy cat and soon to be gone Hernie

I went to see "The Play that Went Wrong" in London a couple of weeks ago. My husband said he hadn't heard me laugh so much for years. I was belly laughing until I coughed, many times. A great workout as well as great entertainment. Always did love a fare.
