hi all

i have severe emphysema 28% lung capacity i am hoping for an op (fingers crossed) if i fit the bill for the valves or the lung volume reduction has anyone had any of these ops and how are you also im awake every night struggling for breath has anyone got any tips for me please

Hi Bjayr,Sorry to hear you are struggling with your Emphysema and do hope that you meet the criteria for either the lung volume reduction or the Valve insertion.They are not miracle cures but should give you more lung function and a better quality of life.I have no experience of either op so unable to give you first hand experience.I am down to 21% lung efficiency but i am very fortunate in that i only require O2 on exertion in an ambulatory sense so i count myself lucky i am relatively comfortable as there are many more people on this site less fortunate than i.best wishes for the future..........................skis and scruffy cat

My lung compacity is only 14% And I'm still waiting for them to tell me that I can go and see if I'm a candidate for a lung transplant or something to help me I'm on oxygen and a whole lot of medicine and I'm still here fighting so good Luck to you all

O my betsy rose you keep fighting fingers crossed for you i hope you get on that transplant list how bad do you have to be before they put you on god bless you stay strong

thankyou for your reply in all fairness i dont have oxygen but my sats are in there 90ties so im lucky i have days where i feel terrible but more good than bad but the hope of something to be done just so i can walk and breathe would be a massive bonus to me but hey ho up and onwards
