I went to see my Doctor yesterday but forgot to ask him about a separate issue i am experiencing. I suffer from mild copd but when I lay down I feel uncomfortable with a sensation of wanting to catch m breath. Anybody experience this? I am active exercising about 1 hour a day( cardio and weights). Wont see the doctor again until 26th.
Thanks.

Zen, I haven't laid down prone in over 5 years. I rest and sleep in my recliner, with my feet raised, and my upper torso only reclined slightly. Best Wishes, judg69
As COPD progresses I think you will find it harder and harder to sleep without propping yourself up my suggestion, if you can afford it or maybe get help from adult services, is to get an electric bed then you can adjust it to whatever you are comfortable with. I got one from HSL (the chair people) and only paid about £650 and it has been the best thing I have ever brought. Pillows always used to slip and move around but the bed is great can also raise my feet which is good as I have bad circulation as well and as my condition has worsened I have been able to adjust my level of recline to what is good for me at the time. Good luck xx
I have End Stage COPD I couldn't lie down either. They sent me do a Sleep Disorder Centre who sorted me out a VPAP. It's a mask and machine that helps you breathe. Be sure to clean it regularly tho' I hope this helps. All the best X X X
I also have been unable to lie flat for some years now. I was lucky enough to get an adjustable bed second hand from a local charity. This is a great help but would have been too expensive for me to buy new. A cheaper substitute which I use in my ordinary bed that I use when I am unable to get to my " proper " bed, is a back rest support which costs under £20 and is extremely helpful. I also bought a lumbar support v-shaped pillow which I have found very beneficial.
