I'm just finishing a short - two weeks - course of prednisolone. My first time on this. Should I expect any withdrawal symptoms.

Everyone's different in their conditions and symptoms . Some may get withdrawl where others don't. If you read the pamphlet that came with the tablets that should indicate what to expect and if you get any symptoms then your aware what it is xxx hope it's gentle for you Angie

Hi

Have done a couple of 10 day 8 tablets 40 mg, with no weaning off, or adverse side effects.

I always find that I have symptoms such as sleeplessness when I'm on prednisolone but am absolutely fine once the course if completed.

Hope they do the trick,

Best wishes

Sandra x

I sincerely trust that you had issues with your mood as I often do when I get put on Prednisolone

I can take it for two to 3 weeks with no withdrawal symptoms, but if I take it for more than 7 days, I normally have taper, to get off it, reducing the dose daily or every other day for 5/6 days.

Prednisolone affects everyone differently, if your symptoms come back as you come off it, you need to go back to the doctor and discuss. It really depends what you were prescribed it for.

Hi I usually end up feeling very tired and lethargic for a couple of days afterwards.

Hi

I usually ask my dr to run them down as I find that the withdrawal can make me feel ill again x

As Angiebr says everyone is different. I have a propensity to become physically dependant on them even a simple 7 day course.

At the end of the 7 days I begin a tapered reduction of dropping a tablet every 3/4 days. On those days when I drop a tablet then I feel 'ill' 'fluey ' but now appreciate that it is simply the body adjusting to the reduction, so I stick it out and eventually am back to feeling ok.

See how you go 😊

Withdrawl is never an issue for me, as they give me such awful nightmares and hallucinations that I can't get off them soon enough :-)

I have Prednisolone (steroids) and Amoxullin (antibiotics) on standby for when I get an infection. I have not had any withdrawal symptoms from either. I hope it is the same with you, Pilch55. Best wishes, Albert.

No but you can expect a predisposition disposition to diabetes, also decreased bone mass. I know because I went through three years of prednisolone. My dosage because of MS was intravenous, and 500 mg a week. And then six months later the same thing over and over again until 3 years I was sick and tired of it told the specialist I'm done! It would make me feel crappy, like so bad. You also have to be careful of getting a lung infection, it lowers your immune system as well. It's the devil's drug LOL.

Thank you all for your comments. My last tablet is tomorrow. It's only been a short course and had no real side effects.

I try to be quite active and am a keen runner ( when I'm up to it ). Since on the tablets I've been running better than for a long time. I think technicaly it's a banned drug for athletes - better not do any races in case I'm tested!!
