Pulmonary embolisms

Hi there my name is Beth and I'm 24.

I first had pulmonary embolism in 2015 and have just been diagnosed with them again. Is there anyone on here that has had these? I seem to suffer with constant pain in my chest and shortness of breath.

Thank you x

Yes. I had PEs after a hip replacement in 2010. I never recovered, was breathless, and eventually diagnosed with Chronic Thromboembolic Disease (CTED) in August 2014. I cannot stress enough that the vast majority of people who get PEs make a complete recovery. It is unusual to have my experience. Are you satisfied that you are getting the help you need? I assume you are on Warfarin or a similar anti-coagulant? Was there a cause for them or was it idiopathic? If you are still breathless two years on then there should be concern and tests. You have had echocardiogram(s) I assume, these are to check that there is no Pulmonary Hypertension. Sorry about the interrogation, but it is — literally — a subject close to my heart.

I would love to hear more details of your story. Would you like to message me?

All the best

Kate

P.S. I am seventy so you are young enough to be my granddaughter. I get very mother-hennish about the youngsters here with the same problems as me. And I want to gather you under my wings.

Hi I don't know where you live but if you are in the UK why not ring the BLF nurses on 03000 030 555. They work office hours. x
