Not according to this source.

"High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scanning is more sensitive than chest radiography in diagnosing emphysema and in determining its type and extent of disease. [4] HRCT also has a high specificity for diagnosing emphysema with virtually no false-positive diagnoses."

Hi Peter a CT scan is only one procedure that the Doctors do in building up a clinical picture of your lungs. Very often by listening to your chest etc they will have already formed a diagnosis. A CT only adds evidence and guidance to the degree of Emphysema. It is very rare indeed for all the tests etc to be wrong or give as you call it a false positive picture.

Were you reading this article?

"That means the CT test was able to correctly predict COPD 76 percent of the time, the researchers reported."

Just stop smoking, you are very lucky indeed to have been diagnosed very early. Many aren't until it's to late to make changes.
