A bit of retail therapy

Can work wonders I am told

So I thought that I would try it,

As I'm feeling now quite bold.

What to buy I must decide,

Something that I might cherish.

Nothing that is edible,

Though there's lots of things I'd relish.

Reading and also writing,

Are things that I enjoy.

Kindles, iPads, puters,

I find can just annoy.

The problem is with all of them,

And this I must confess.

Although they make things easier

They lack one thing.......finesse!

So I've bought a Parker fountain pen,

It's just a joy to use.

Once you've learnt to use one,

It's a skill you never loose.

The promised paperless society,

Turned out to be a farce.

So they can take their silly gadgets,

And stick them up their... cough..cough...cough!

(Sorry about that, it's me COPD)

Brilliant xx

😂😂

I remember many moons ago,

A long,long time back when.

We didn't have these gadgets,

And we had to use a pen.

But now gadgets are normality,

So if you stop to think.

It saves the use of paper,

And running out of ink.

So use your brand new fountain pen,

I'm sure you'll do just fine.

But to share your witty rhymes my friend,

Keep posting them online.😉

Long ago, at my school

Neat handwriting was the rule.

With pen that scratched and nib that split,

I never got the hang of it.

Later a Parker pen I did try,

Still no good, I don't know why .

Enjoy your new purchase Don, hope you got some blotting paper too.....no dipping it the ink and flicking it around with a ruler. Those were the days. Ha .

Brilliant! I just love a nice new pen and note book, trouble is - my writing isn't up to much now, it starts off reasonably tidy but it soon descends into a scrawl. I haven't used a fountain pen for many years, I'm sure yours will be put to good use though.

I'm amazed such things are still for sale. Thought they'd only be in museums at this stage :)

Seriously though, a new pen and a new notebook are a real help to feeling creative. So we'll be expecting loads of new poems from you now.

hahahahaha that's woken me up with a smile. Sounds like a beautiful pen especially if it can make you rhyme like that.

Dear Don, Never change. Correct take on today's world. Everything geared to going faster leaving no memories. But, you have managed to outwit them with your pen and paper. Ink on the fingers is a smile. Thank you. Winterhill
