A very active Day

After my early morning walk I went to met up with an old friend at the National memorial Arboretum. For those who have never visited you can easily walk 10 km without noticing. Really feeling it tonight. Very tired but very good to see an old friend from 30 years ago.

I'm told that the Arboretum is very impressive, I've only seen it on the tv but I must say it looked impressive, and very peaceful. Not surprised you're tired, long walks are tiring, as are warm days - today you've had both, well done.

It is very impressive. I have been attending now for four years. Each year there seems more to see. Due to the age of some of the veterans there are a number of facilities such as wheel chair and electric scooter hire etc to help people who are less able to get around. I felt like one of the babies of the group as a number of them were in there mid 90s but in some cases able to still walk around without to many problems.

Hi Badbessie, as one Veteran to another, I would dearly love to go but have no one to care for my dogs, and journey with other veterans by coach takes to long, I live in Kent.....I often visit the Royal Air Force Memorial Capel le fern, between Dover and Folkestone.

Very understandable. Luckily my dog is looked after by my wife and daughter. It's only a 45 to 60 minute journey for me. I go 3 or 4 times a year there is always something new. I talked to some of the planners yesterday and it will double in size over the next 10 years. You cannot get round in a day now so it will be interesting to watch it develop in years to come.

Then I'm sure you will continue to enjoy in the future.
