copd with asthma
Hello there Madge, you are in the right place, both conditions are usually very manageable, please do not look up on Google as this can be very frightening and extremely misleading and make a difficult diagnosis more scarey than it needs to be, there is a wonderful helpline here for information, and the members here are an invaluable source of support with their experiences and honest advice, so many here have had COPD for many many years. the single most important thing to do is quit smoking, then take your meds, and exercise. All the best.
Hello Madge01,
I, too, have COPD, asthma, and bronchitis. I have been told I have severe COPD. The asthma and bronchitis are part of my lung problems. I also have small cell lung cancer diagnosed the end of 2014.
Prior to getting the small cell lung cancer I was diagnosed with COPD. Have used many inhalers over the years. The COPD has slowed me down some. I have not had to use oxygen.
I know that COPD and asthma are managable if caught early and treatment is started. I have used inhalers for a long time now. I see a pulmonologist for my lungs every three months. I am on my third round of lung cancer treatment and it is going well.
Madge, have you seen a pulmonologist yet? I would suggest your internist refer you to one soon. He/she will be of great help to you. I wish you the best. God bless and many prayers for you.
Kathie
Must just mention my breathing nurse said she felt that I didn't actually have COPD just bad Asthma which I have never had mention of since I had my lung out nearly 12 years ago .... when I mentioned this in passing to my hospital consultant he just shrugged ... oh well 1 or tother !
Yes completely manageable, I've had asthma for almost 30yrs and COPD (emphysema) for almost 3yrs. My medications (inhalers) were changed and I was given some tablets (montelukast) which really helped me. I have had 2 flare ups in the 3yrs both dealt with by antibiotics and steroids, I'm sure you'll find you manage perfectly well. Good Luck and always someone here if you need them xx
I have COPD, asthma and bronchiectasis - all manageable with the right medication!
How did you get a diagnosis my Dr won't diagnose l have these conditions
the nurse at the doctors did my breathing assessment and I didn't breathe as for as I should have done so she said there was an obstruction which meant I hid copd with asthma im constantly going to my doctor and nurse who are very good keeping an eye on me ive got to see occupational health at work tomorrow 4th July 2017 see what they have to say
Can they diagnose copd with just the spiro test or does it have to be ct scan? I had an ex ray it came back clear she has put me on inhalers brown and blue
I had an x-ray mine came back clear. my spire test showed that I wasnt breathing as I should be I've got a brown inhaler that I have to take when I get up and when I go to bed I have a blue inhaler for when I need it out of breathe of wheezing and I have a green one to control my copd which I've only just got which I have to take 3 times a day. so hopefully I will get there to see what suits me as I only recently got told I had copd with asthma
