I have pulmonary hypertension and am living life as normal, although I have oxygen, but that is no trouble. You could ask your doctor or hospital consultant if you can be referred to one of the specialist pulmonary hypertension hospitals in the UK, list in the website: phauk.org/treatment-for-pul...
These specialist hospitals are only for pulmonary arterial hypertension. There is no treatment for PH secondary to, or caused by, lung conditions except to treat the condition as well as possible. Sue
Watford Girl: I have had sarcoidosis of the lungs for 37 years, and my pulmonary hypertension is a result of the granuloma deposits in my lungs which got worse 5 years ago (perhaps as a result of taking long term Vitamin D which I now realise people with sarcoidosis should not take) and caused honeycombing (small holes) and holes in my lungs. Therefore my pulmonary hypertension is caused by a lung condition. As I understand it the congestion in my lungs makes it harder for the right-hand side of the heart to pump blood into my lungs. So I do not think you are correct in your statement.
I go to a specialist Pulmonary Hypertension hospital every six months as well as the sarcoidosis clinic. I am on medication and oxygen but still get out and about.
Sorry Sarcoid, Watfordgirl didnt mean to cause a fuss. Watfordgirl with what my lung consultant said would probably fit with your response as he has said their is nothing more that can be done. But he said he was open to any other treatments if it was recommended by another specialist. So maybe what Sarcoid said maybe also valid maybe some consultants willing to try things that others wont and maybe my consultant is one who wont without other input from someone else. Maybe i just need to accept that they cant
Was I causing a fuss?! It's ok, I'm laughing!
There are lots of conditions people have where there's nothing they can do, no specific treatment. We can still be helped in terms of changing medication, inhalers, rehab courses - lots of things. And you'll always get tips and advice from people here. Don't be too depressed and anxious. Sue x
