Had a good few weeks but ...

Being on antibiotics and steroids for two weeks gave me a new lease of life. My peak flow was better, I was walking better and I had energy to do things I haven't managed for a couple of years. Unfortunately, since stopping the antibiotics and tapering off the steroids my chest is getting bad again and I'm producing mucky phlegm - so back to normal in other words!

I had such a window into how things used to be before I got the bronchiectasis diagnosis (and asthma and copd) that I was hopeful all would go away and stay away so I am disheartened to be feeling unwell again.

I know I need to produce a sample and also get to the doctor but can't do that until tomorrow.

Am just feeling frustrated and wanted to have a little moan!

Does anyone else experience the euphoria of feeling well followed by the downer of being off colour again? How do you cope with being on a see saw?

So sorry that you're feeling a bit frustrated, it must be very disappointing for you. Hopefully, when you get your sample in, they'll be able to give you something to sort it out for you.

Good luck.....hope you get back to feeling great again very soon. XXX

Thank you!

That tends to happen to me every time I get to the end of an emergency pack. I find that spending time on my steamer helps a lot and clears my chest, until next time, then it's the same routine over again.

It's a shame the antibiotics and steroids come with their own problems - it would be lovely to be on them the whole time and feel so good!

I know it's unfair but this is our world it's a cycle. You get use to it you don't like it but you adapt. Hope you feel a bit better soon.

It`s the steroids that give me a boost. I always feel as if I could lift a bus when I`m on steroids and I`m quite cheerful. Coming off them leaves my body feeling physically bruised, I can`t touch my rib cage and I feel quite low for a while. BUT needs must - where would we be without them ? Sheila x

I expect it was the steroid 'high' that had me feeling so good. It was wonderful while it lasted!
