New to this site and not feeling good.I've been off antibiotics for 2 weeks but can't produce a sample so I'm trying to stay off them until I do but it's really difficult when I'm feeling so unwell. I'm also thinking about applying for PIP but am very nervous- how poorly do you need to be? Hope someone can help. Thanks Weeeileen

Hi Eileen

I usually only have an emergency pack of steroids and antibiotics that last 5 days. As far as pip I got help with applying from local social services welfare rights dept. I had phoned to ask for advice and they offered a home visit and I found them very good

Thanks, Jimmy. I have a 2 week rescue pack but am trying not to take them so that I can get a sputum sample to take on. Was your pip application successful?

Hi yes it was. I had to attend a centre in Glasgow but I found the staff very nice and understanding

Thanks again, Jimmy. This is really helpful though I'm still nervous about applying. Back on antibiotics doxycycline this time. Hope you're feeling well 😊

Welcome weeeileen -if you're not feeling well it would be best to call your GP about whether to start the antibiotics before obtaining sputum sample.

Thanks Dedalus, spoke to the nurse yesterday and got some different antibiotics so we'll see how it goes.

Good news - hope the new antibiotic starts working quickly so you're back on your feet soon. I believe Age UK or Citizens Advice can help filling out the forms for PIP. Good luck with it. All best wishes x
