When my bladder is full, like when I first wake up, it has a markedly negative effect on my breathing. Is this normal? It seems like just about everything has a bad effect on my breathing. If I get upset I can't hardly breathe. If it's too windy, too cold, too hot, to say nothing of smells, etc. This disease does a pretty good job of taking your life away from you.

Hi Nikilet
Your absolutely right I do try not to let it get to me, but of course it does I am deffinately not the person I would like to be it's stolen the real me. I think all we can do is to get the best out of each day that we can, but sometimes it makes you feel better to have a good moan and all on this forum know exactly where your coming from.
Enjoy your day

In my personal experience, most people who don't have copd have no idea how it affects us in so many different ways. Breathlessness for a variety of random reasons, exhaustion, tiredness, anxiety, depression, guilt, confusion, bladder issues, swollen legs, etc etc! No wonder professional health care is so hit and miss, and very often left in our hands. It gives you so much to think about that it's sometimes hard to focus on anything else. Keep well x
Thank you. This is exactly true. They have no idea what it is like to struggle for air in everything you do.
Hi
All of the above and more, any pressure on diaphragm will compromise your breathing, bloating bending down not good.weather so hit and miss start of well end up crap, triggers from toxins sweet smelling or otherwise trip to A&E. anxiety/panic the list is endless.even bad news can start the viscous circle in motion.
Yes some folk seem to be far luckier and none of your "list" bothers them much. I'm afraid I'm just like you......you name it and I can almost probably say it has a detrimental effect on my breathing. The list is endless! I seem to spend so much time working out ways to avoid anything that will put me into one of my "breathing episodes"!!! I'm starting some CBT soon and fingers crossed, this may highlight ways of coping etc.
Hello Nikilet .
I don't have that problem when my bladder is full but I do when my stomach is full. I get really breathless. Today it was very warm and it definitely didn't help my breathing. And neither does the cold, dry winter weather. It really is difficult. Sometimes I just want to stay at home and not move so I don't get breathless. But I've got to keep moving.
Take it easy. We all have those bad, bad days and then we have a good one. Wishing you a good one today.

Thank you so much. I don't get out much because I simply can't breathe very well and it's more trouble and trauma than it's worth.
I understand Nikilet . Do you have anyone who comes to check up on you like a nurse? How do you manage to go to the hospital etc?
I just assume I will be breathless when I go to bathroom so will use oxygen SATs still drop but not as bad
I now have to take anxiety medication on a daily basis because I am always anxious just the way it is. Tried to get out to walk today and just about wet myself. I will try again tommrow
I get fluid on my lungs due to heart failure. I have to take water tablets (Furesimide) to make me pee it away. Otherwise I get a drowning/ suffocating feeling. It's probably a similar thing.
Hope this helps.
Grayjay.
I agree with all that's been said however there is one thing more than anything else that gets to me. Its having to research everything when going to somewhere not visited before. Having to plan the journey, make sure of toilets available, if there are lifts where lots of steps are about. I hate all of that stuff but then I reflect, it could be worse, there at people a lot worse than me so I must be grateful for my lot.
