There are quite a few newer inhalers and some are better than the older ones. Let us know how you get on with it.

Hello alan70 .

My immune system is suppresed with drugs and I am on Symbicort. It has never been suggested to me that I shouldn't be on it. This is interesting to me. I should do some research. Thank you for posting.

Please let your doctor know that your new inhaler isn't working so well. I really hope you feel better soon.

Best wishes to you.

Hi Alan

Think you will find quite a few of us have been taken off Symbicort I had also been on Symbicort for about 12 years took Spireva and Salamol blue inhaler when needed which was very rare, there are other inhalers that appear to be as good as I think it may be a case of finding the one that suits you best. I was changed to Fostair I found Fostair to be good and took that twice a day and Spireva once a day, was on Fostair for about 7 months only to find they have changed me yet again last week to one called Duaklir this to replace Spireva and Fostair but I still have the Salamol blue inhaler if I need it. Only been on the new one now for three days and not sure as I am struggling a little. Maybe these changes are down to cost cutting by the NHS or better drugs being released there are always new things coming on to the market ?. Hope you soon settle with your changes as I think it's always a little awkward when we don't agree with the DR maybe there is something else that might be better suited always worth an ask. Take Care 🙂

Hope you find something good that works for you. Shane about the Symbicort though. Speak to your GP. Xxxxx

I would go back to your GP and tell him/ her that your breathlessness is not under control.

My friend and neighbour had her Symbicort replaced by Fostair and found it didn't suit her.

I was on Symbicort but have been changed to Fostair seems to do the same job and so far so good .

I was taken of Seretide and put on Fostair nr. a year ago I have found it does seem to open airways quicker but I have had really severe reflux and throat trouble since being on it which isn't doing my copd a favour xx
