Does anyone ever suffer from painful lungs after a cold that's had you do a lot of coughing? Its painful to breathe.
Hello Eve1956 . Yes. When I have had nasty infections in the past I have had pain in my rib area. I know coughing a lot can cause pain in the chest as well. I always assumed it was the muscles that hurt from coughing too much and not the actual lungs. But what do I know?
I hope it gets better for you quickly.
Cas xx 😊🌹
Hello Eve
Sorry you are not feeling well.
I am trying to recover from a chest infection....And I have coughed for England...24/7...This always happens and it leaves me with sore ribs...Sore back...Sore tummy muscles...Sore lungs ,...All from coughing fits....In the past l have even fractured my ribs from coughing.
So l guess it could be a combination of both for you
I now have an upper respiratory tract infection....My throat and trachea are sore, but it's different pain, more a burning sensation when l breath in.
I hope you feel better soon.
xx
Get well soon velvet55 Wishing there was something we could do for you. xxx
After a cold or flu I have az cramp like pain in my left lung its very uncomfortable
Yes I've just had a bad cold,I have an appointment with the doctor today I just hope there is some kind of painkiller I can get to help with thepainin my lungs
I have a little formula which from years of experience helps me to decide what is going on. Not guaranteeing that it is right for everybody.
pain in the muscles between the ribs happens when I move or cough, not when I am still
pain in the lungs from a bacterial infection is a dull ache or 'heavy' pain in whichever part of the lungs is affected. It is constantly there whether breathing, moving, or not.
Pain due to an infection of the pleural membrane (pleurisy) happens on breathing in or at the last bit when breathing in or out. Very sharp and nasty
virus chest pain very much as velvet described it. A sore burning sensation in the upper airways when breathing in and out and agony coughing.
I hope that rings a bell with some people.
Very well put SS. Pleurisy is horrible. I think the dry sort hurts more. I had a plueral effusion that was less painful. When I have had pneumonia, the racking coughs caused a lot of pan.
EXcellent advice SS. Thankyou
Hello Ever1956, Some sound advice on here for you, but I do know how it hurts. It's the rawness that gets me.
Hoping you are soon back on form
I am at the moment suffering with a painful left side after having that long term cough I can only assume i have bruised my ribs. I am only allow to take paracetamol. not much got for this type of pain. took a co codamol this morning as painful every breath. now i've been up a while its eased off a bit. no doubt it will pass in the end will take a few days
Hi, I get the same problem. Even more so if I go out and the cold air gets into my body.
Been suffering badly since early January, the cold air, despite its feeling of cleanliness, really doesn't do me any favours.
The feeling is like a bruising feeling.
