I have COPD and think that the UK lack laws around fireworks is outrageous. What are the BLF doing about this?

We do not hear so many nowadays, maybe expense is partially to blame, thank goodness. So many animals, and young children too find the noises very scary.
The Petitions Committee has decided not to schedule a debate on this petition. When it decides which petitions should be debated, the Committee looks at whether the subject has recently been debated by the House of Commons.
There was a debate on Monday 6 June on a petition that called for restrictions on the use of fireworks. The Committee has therefore decided not to schedule a debate on this subject again, because it is only a few months since the last debate.
Government response
Government acknowledges genuine concerns about the use and, the misuse, of fireworks. Legislation restricts the sale of fireworks and controls their use, and we have no plans to extend this further.
They should make them without the noises this would be a great improvement. My dogs hate them they become nervous wrecks until its all over, hopefully one day they will be banned.
When I lived in Texas (1990's) I was surprised that access to fireworks was so tightly controlled. The British ex pats put on an annual Bonfire Night on Nov 5th - with a very large bonfire, roast chestnuts, Jacket spuds etc ...and sparklers. Sparklers were the only firework we were allowed because of safety laws ... but guns would have been fine of course!
