Hi all

Do you have plans to celebrate bonfire night this year? 🎆

Fireworks can be magical to watch, but did you know that the smoke and chemicals from fireworks and bonfires could affect your lung condition? Find out how to look after your lungs around fireworks:

Thank you but we’re going nowhere tonight. We were meant to go to a fireworks display last Saturday but decided not to go. I’m not a fan of fireworks anyway and we have our daughter’s cat here until Thursday because they’re away.

Have a lovely evening everyone xxxx

I won’t be going anywhere tonight. Fireworks have been going of every night for 7 consecutive nights, and one of my two dogs petrified, so we’ll be sitting with the curtains drawn, and the TV on loud!

We stayed in to be company for our cat, Tarby. He's had a really bad day for loud noises, as we've had the roofers working on our flat roof all day too. Hopefully it won't be so noisy today as the roofers finish the job.

Very regal and he looks fantastic. I used to play Classic FM to our cats. Upstairs and downstairs to help calm them. They would spend the night on the stairs. They always went there as felt safe. Both rescued by a charity as they had been abandoned in a flat. So the stairs were a curiosity to them at first. One was mainly white with a tabby tail. Hated the sunscreen on his pink nose. x

He's a handsome gentleman!

At an old job a colleague had an extremely bossy white cat called Elvis!

I used to love bonfires and open fires in pubs and houses - but no longer. Woodburners are a problem too. The smoke can be a real trigger for irritation and risk of exacerbation - so it’s fireworks from a distance or behind glass viewing these days 🤷‍♀️

We went to see a marvellous, one man, production of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on Halloween and yesterday, bonfire night, we went to see a very good production of Othello at the RSC. There have been fire works going off around us but I'm not a fan.

Nope, woodsmoke is bad enough in my town . I like a good firework display - from a good distance however, I'm not comfortable with the historic aspect of it all.

The bonfires have ramped up where I live in the last few years. Might be due to reduced bin collections. Really find smoke difficult and having to close doors and windows in Summer awful.

Yes, also have inconsiderate neighbour who does bonfires without advance warning. Organised displays only for me these days and I hate the individual fireworks with complete disregard for distressed animals (and others). When I had my Suzy (Yorkie), I, too, played classical music for pets at the loudest volume, both upstairs and down, drew all blinds and curtains, but she was terrified and ran to hide, even when I followed her to help her feel secure. And, yes, so bad for chest health, adds to pollution and costs a fortune.
