My daughter has just applied to volunteer for this helpline for elderly people. I was wondering if anyone on this forum had any experience, firsthand or otherwise, of this organisation?

The Silver Line?
A big YES! There have been times during the last three years when I was in need of a friendly chat with someone (definitely not the Samaritans) House moving coupled with a very ill husband could have caused big stress problems which they did) but I had such backing from Silver Line. We used to have friendly chats once in a while. Now I have a Silver Line friend who always rings on a Monday.
I would advise your daughter to look at their website, which she may have done already. I cant say enough for this organisation. Good luck to your daughter, Terrymc
What a wonderful thing for your daughter to do Terrymc and I am sure she will be of great help to those who need it. xxx
Thank you sassy! She's been an RAF policewoman and then went into finance, so this is her first try at helping people. Its half an hour a week to begin with, I understand. Just in time for Christmas too!
My friend volunteered for them as part if her degree course and she thoroughly enjoyed it, said one lady used to call everyday to say hello and my friend tried to chat to her but she said she was just happy to have someone to greet daily! Bless.
It will be so rewarding.
Eyup northernlass! Thank you for your lovely reply. I hope my northern lass gets as much out of the experience as your friend did. Very best wishes.
