Improved FEV1.

I just had a peak flow test at my PCP's office and my FEV1 has gone from 46 percent to 75 percent. I do notice that my breathing has improved from three months ago. Can it be the Stiolto causing such a dramatic increase in FEV1? I also feel like I am getting full breaths now with the meds in me. I can even skip a few days and still feel good. Three months ago I was gasping for air and choking at night. It was really bad. My PCP says I do not have COPD or a restrictive lung disease. He is also a pulmonologist. He still can't explain the low DLCO of 49 percent. He said it could have been new blood clots when that test was being taken, or left over clots from 4 years ago. Maybe the other doctors machines were not calibrated properly. The first PFT I had done was in the booth. It was a complete lung function test in a laboratory. This test was just a small machine that you blow into and it prints out a graph once you're done. I don't know what to think anymore. I kind of feel like a fraud. I am glad my FEV1is better though. I don't have to worry about my lungs anymore.

I just wonder if the initial tests were wrong. I guess I may never know. My PCP says I do not need meds, but I will see what the specialist has to say. Congrats on the improvement in your lung function.

I am Casper. I just wish I knew why my numbers were so bad 3 months ago. I hope it wasn't more blood clots in the lungs. I guess I will never know now.

The way I see it is as long as the last tests are correct why worry about the other ones ,

Because it's a conundrum and he is left wondering whether there was some other reason why the last result was so off-kilter eg the clots. That's bound to be a bit of a worry.

Yeah Hanne. I had killer clots back in 2012. I was not feeling well at the time the first test was taken. My PCP assured me that blood clots will not mess with FEV1. But I think chest pain can. I guess I will never know. I recently had a test for clots and all was clear, but that was two months after the failed PFT. It is good news though that my FEV1 is up. Another issue is that if I smoke even one cigarette these days, I get sicker than a dog. I don't see how I can have no lung damage but be sick from smoking. Sick enough that I am scared to even take one puff of a cigarette. Maybe it was just a fluke thing. Thanks for the support.
