How long is the wait for treatment?

My friend, Robert, developed a bad cough a few weeks ago after having excellent health all his life. He has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. His life has changed and no longer can walk far, gets breathless easily, sleeps badly and feels constantly tired. How can I find good treatment for him quickly?

Hi I don't know about quickly with the NHS in it's current state, but he does need to be referred to a consultant if he hasn't already been. Would he come in here? There are a number of PF sufferers in here whom he can talk to. x

for me getting to do things quickly comes from paying for it...go private to start with..get the medication and answers you need the same day...

the doc/consultant will probably put you on his/hers NHS list if they have one. ...

and ofcouse there's always this site.

wish you well.

I was referred to respiratory consultant last November, via cardiology, (following angiogram, medical stress echocardiogram, 2nd angiogram etc) all to find out b why I'm breathless. Nothing wrong with my heart. So....... then to respiratory I had a CT lung scan in April. This showed scarring , told I have some kind of ILD but still no definitive diagnosis or any treatment. As I said, this is since last November and months of cardio investigations prior. Apparently to get a proper diagnosis, case has to be discussed in MDT. I wasn't on the July list nor August and secretary cannot tell me if I will on the Sept list as 'she doesn't do the list '.

So no, in my opinion nothing happens with any urgency these days in the nhs.
