Hi just wondering if anyone else has had this, for past few weeks I am struggling to lie down as getting really bad pains in upper back ok when I am up and about I have severe copd x

I would go to see your GP ,, my consultant was very firm when she told me any new symptoms need looking into

I don't have a consultant and already seen go as struggling to breathe he just put me on mucidyne because I gave up smoking 8 weeks ago but I don't think it's anything to do with that

If you can afford it, you could try visiting an osteopath. Mine helped me when I had a lot of rib and chest pain. He checked that none of it was coming from my spine (and would have done a manipulation if it had), massaged the intercostal muscles that were going into spasm, and showed me how to ease my diaphragm when that goes into spasm because I've been doing too much.
