Rescue Meds or not

Hanging out the washing I was struck with shortness of breath. About ten minutes later I decided to check my stats, normally 93, they were now 94/95. So weird. Now I don't know whether to start taking rescue Meds or not. I have done this waiting to see before and regretted it. Any ideas ?

Hi, have you got any other symptoms such as a cough with discoloured sputum?

If you are uncertain whether you need your rescue medication, could you ring your GPs surgery and ask for advice before the weekend starts . Take care.

Hi knitter, what does discoloured sputum mean? Is it a sign of infection?

Hi mendy, green or yellow sputum may show you have an infection, but a virus can cause a change too....best consult your GP or nurse as it is a weekday.

Thank you knitter. My husband always brings clear mucus.

Hi

The shortness of breath is likely caused by excertion, a ten minute wait is to long to get a accurate reading. Hanging out washings is strenuous especially if you bend down to pick items from basket on floor, it compresses the diaphragm resulting in severe breathlessness. Especially if done repeatedly.

If you have garden table to set the basket on so as eliminate the need to bend.

You're so right Stone. I nearly had a coronary last week, hanging out large duvet, sheets etc. In this case it was the leaning upwards trying to straighten out the bedclothes before pegging them, that caused the problem. I really overtaxed my chest muscles and had pain and sob all evening.

Hi

That's the problem, that kind of stretching is using so many muscles, all screaming for more oxygen which you can't give,.

Hi Eve check out the post I put up a month ago called 'COPD Exacerbations'. Click on my name to find it. This will tell you everything you need to know. x

Hello Eve, you've had good advice. If it was me, and it isn't, I wouldn't start talking rescue meds yet. Hope you feel better and less worried soon. Sue x
