canada holiday?
Hi this has been discussed a lot on here. if you type in holiday insurance in the box on the top right where it says 'search' all the posts will come up. x
Hi, thanks but have been online or on the phone all day. As soon as interstitial lung disease and vascular disease are mentioned they dont want to know
Well there are a few that do and if you look at the old posts you will find insurance companies other members have used. x
I looked through another post. Try Avanti, 'All Clear', freedom, Unique, Stay Sure, Medical Travel Compared and Money Supermarket. x
The cost of insurance will depend on age, medications, oxygen usage, exacerbations, hospitalisation. Contrary to what many people think, Insurers do not make vast profits.
The OP will need a "fitness to fly" certification before flying to Canada and if she needs in-flight oxygen this must be arranged in advance with the Airline. Also, if she needs oxygen in Canada this must be arranged and paid for in advance.
Hi Sylv, I had this problem last year as I need oxygen whilst in flight, not at other times and a question most insurance companies ask is "how many times have you been admitted to hospital this year" and my reply was high it was 3. I managed to get insurance with ALLCLEAR TRAVEL INSURANCE, I took out an annual policy. They've actually written to me recently to inform me that the policy is about to expire and I have to resubmit my info, hopefully it won't be quite so hard this year as I've only had one hospital admission! Happy hunting, it's not easy but I hope you find somebody that will insure you. Joy x
HI
I also have an interstitial lung disease. I went on a cruise last year and got my insurance with Staysure. I have Cryptogenic Organising Pneumonia. I am actually having a 'fit to fly' test next week. Hopefully I will be told I am ok to fly!
Good luck and have a lovely holiday
Sheila
Hi, I would love to visit my brother in Canada .....he's in Halifax n.s.
I don't fly, should say won't fly .... Not until I have my own tail feathers.
We did the USA in 2008 and travelled around on Amtrak for 3 weeks it was fantastic,
that was before I was diagnosed with copd ,.....we cruised there on NCL which called into Halifax and came straight back to uk on Cunard.
Looking to do similar ,but not USA bit in a couple of years time once enough pennies are saved.
Jo.
Hi Sylv, try Able2travel. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Going to Canada is an added worry because medical charges are so high over there. Good luck and enjoy your trip. Maximonkey
