Oxygen measurement

Hi there everyone. Would like to ask some advice on those small things that are pegged on the tip of finger to measure oxygen levels. I have looked on Amazon and have seen some very cheap ones, are they accurate or would I need to buy a more expensive one. Advice welcome.

Thanks

Ennabelle

I have breathing issues and i got a mid range pulseoximeter, a TempIR, which seems to be pretty accurate. I got it off Amazon.

Hi they are called oxymeters. I paid £20 from Amazon and it measures your heart rate as well. It's pretty accurate. x

I bought one off Amazon for my husband. It was about £20 & always compared pretty accurately with the GP's.

Hi Ennabelle, I have an Anapulse finger oximeter that measures heart rate & O2. It's from Amazon & cost £18 approx.

The Finger Pulse Oximeter has a Carrycase, Silicone Sleeve, Lanyard, Batteries & Instruction Manual included.

My GP says it's an accurate little gadget.

Hope this helps

Take care 🌹

I have 2 of these. One in the house and another which lives in the pocket on the side of my portable tank. So I have one when I am out. I regularly compare mine with the Respiratory Nurse when she visits. Mine are always reading the same as hers.

Take it with you to your next Dr. visit and calibrate it with their's. If it's like 2% higher make the adjustment in your mind and the same if it's lower.

Hi Ennabelle

I have used these for years. Due to modern technology they are all pretty much as accurate as your doctors. Just don't become a paranoid android using it! Your sats will vary throughout the day and with exertion so just take the figures as a general indicator. If your sats (oxygen level) are below 88% you will know it. I find it most useful when recovering from excacerbations.

have fun with it! x

I paid less than £20 for mine and it matches the Doc and hospitals. Mine shows heart rate to. It does go crazy when I am in AF but cannot expect it not to.

I have one of the recording ones that is on a wrist strap as I have oxygen overnight. It cost about £99 from Amazon and you can download to your PC and print out your stats and graphs. It is very useful for occasional use when I need to check - saves overnight sleep studies for me as I am hypoxic rather than have sleep apnoea.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question regarding the oxymeter. Very helpful. I am afraid that it is very possible that I get paranoid about the levels, maybe ignorance is bliss lol!

Thanks again

hi I got mine on a trial from the far east, had to send daily findings to them but I got it free ,,my latest test is for a portable ecg it can store 50 tests I'm I mpressed with it

They are called oximeters ox-im-aters. I got mine on Ebay gor $11 and that includes shipping! It is Contec brand. It is very good so I purchased another in case I lose one. I wouldn't be without mine!

Get the one that is called OLED , not the regular LCD one, that way it has colorful readings in red, yellow and green! The LCD is just black and white. Besides the SpO2 reading for the oxygen, mine also shows the heartrate and lines for how the heart is beating,
