Hi...yes I have been prescribed it regularly & in my case it has been quite effective in dealing with pseudomonas & haemophilus influenzae bacteria. It seems to be the AB of choice for my GP & consultant.
Thank you all for help yes I am allergic to penicillin. I have so many allergies I was worried about this new to me tablet but feel better as so many of you have had it thanks again x
Hi my doctors prescribe doxy for me when I get a chest infection. I suffer with interstitial lung disease so getting infections on top of this is a major problem for me, but doxy always seems to do its magic. I call it the wonder drug as I don't get any side effects with it
I've been on a maintenance dose of 100mg of Doxycycline a day for the past nine months and am now taking 50mg a day (lower dose is my choice). The Respiratory Physician seems to think I should remain on this maintenance dose. It causes me no negative side effects now. Initially it caused nausea but this no longer happens.
I also take doxy daily, have done so since September, and have only had 2 infections since then.
Hi I always use doxy it does the trick for me. However I have IPF so when I have a bad chest infection I always have ciproflaxcin and I have a maintainance dose of azythromycin
I was prescribed Doxy a few years ago,, but had to stop taking as it was causing SEVERE vomiting twenty mins after taking. Now take slow release clithromycin for flare ups as ll as daily Azithromycin.
Everyone reacts differently to antibiotic but I suppose there is always one out there to suit us.
When taking Doxy, it's really important to read the leaflet that comes with it. That gives detailed directions on how to take it and how to avoid getting sick.
Only used it on my Racing Pigeons, it made them fly well so beware no flapping your arms !!! I do hope it works, we should always have the right antibiotic for the infection and not just a wide spectrum drug.
