I'm looking for a portable oxygen concentrator

I'm looking to buy a portable oxygen concentrator. Preferably the inogen one g3,but I'd be open to other makes.I'm in central Scotland but can travel about 50 miles if anyone has one for sale.Thanks in advance for any help and advice 😊

I have an Invacare SPO2 which was provided on the NHS on permanent loan. My respiratory nurse arranged it. Are things different in Scotland?

I think things are very different here,reading the replies it seems that in England its fairly straightforward to get a portable concentrator, not up here it isn't.The company who provide my oxygen is Dolby vivisol,and they're hopeless and have said no to my repeated requests for a lighter portable oxygen option.I've got the homefill system,and the tanks are heavy.My resp nurse is difficult to deal with,and even getting a letter about my condition has been like getting the holy grail,my resp nurse said no to a letter explaining my condition and my consultant has just phoned and is reluctantly writing a letter,but won't give me access to my lung function results,so dealing with any of them is a test of nerve and patience lol,they're driving me demented,I feel really alone with the medical stuff 😢.But on the bright side,I've raised enough money to buy a concentrator 😁

If you put it in the search health unlocked option at the top right of the page it will show previous posts that people have put up selling them but if you havnt already asked i would ask your oxygen supplier as they do have some models free

My oxygen provider has refused,repeatedly to give me a portable concentrator, so I give up with them.But I'll take your advice and look on previous posts.Thanks ☺

Hi,

Before spending what is a not inconsiderable sum of money, check with your local NHS Commissioning group or Oxygen supplier. Under certain circumstances they will prescribe a concentrator on the NHS. I was supplied with an Inogen One G2 to replace portable ambulatory oxygen. You have to be pretty insistent as they will try and put you off in the first instance.

If buying I would definitely recommend the G2. Although heavier than the G3 it delivers a wider range (1-6 Lpm) which though you might notneed that amount now, it allows for future needs. It comes with a small trolley and carrying strap, but I had a special backpack made which is much more useful. It has two power supplies, mains and 12v and is approved for air travel.

Hi thanks for replying to my post.I've asked and asked for a battery operated concentrator, and been told absolutely no way will I get one on the NHS.But I've been very blessed and my village has held fundraisers and donated,and I've raised enough to buy one.How long does the battery last on the g2?The reason I want the g3 is its small enough for me to use myself,and I can buy 2 16 cell batteries which will give me 12 hours.I use a my portable on a minimum of 4lpm when walking,I really need 5lpm when walking,but I'd sacrifice and just have 4 for the longer battery time,and be a breathless and slower lol.

I hopefully won't need it for long,I'm just waiting to head from Newcastle to see if I'll get on to the donor register.But I'm not holding my breath lol 😉 .Things never go my way with this illness so I'm assuming I won't make it onto the register.

I really appreciate your reply,I'll go and have a wee look at the g2 properly and weigh up my optionss

Hi gothmum I have got the inogen2 it goes up to 5 Lt pm but it is a little bit heavy I too am looking at inogen3 which is a lot lighter I use mine for holidays as at home I am on 2 LPM .and I have got a small focus the lightest on the market but I might have to sell it as I don't think it is any good now for walking so that is how I am looking at inogen3 but inogen are great machines and would never go by if you're ever down my way in Ayrshire new cumnock please come see me and I would be happy to let you try my machine don't worry I have plenty spare cannulas I to get my oxygen from Dolby not very clever at least the guy who services my machine stays very close and I used to work with his dad so please pop by anytime and let you try it out and if you anbody who is interested in the focus 1years warranty left on and in great condition
