lol very good ,when I first left school I worked on the land with a gang of women I was the only male some days you didn't even have to say any thing and you would get screamed at just for being a man , but was a lot of fun days and never had to buy a local paper what they didn't know wasn't worth knowing they even knew when every one in their rows of houses changed the bed sheets ,

i wouldn't say they spoilt me but in was certainly was a eye opener being with them lot , They had funny traditions too if it was someones birthday the person who's birthday it was was expected to bring in a cake or tin of chocolates to share with everyone the others didn't bring you anything , better when I got promoted to tractor driver for them and the girls from collage came in the summer holidays as I was getting days pay they was on piece work so if I fancied one I would go help her fill her boxes up lol

In my last full-time employment, I was a lone female in control of 15 lorry drivers and directed them by radio. They always knew not to argue with me about the daily schedules I gave them when I was feeling like that, but I can imagine some of the *%$£*!^% that went on once the radio was off? Lol

lol I can imagine ,

Oh heh heh heh...love it. ...and I thought it was just me - for I have never, even pre-menopause, been able to remember which way is on or off, screw or unscrew, map read, turn radiators to hot or cold without putting my specs on...I even had to download a picture showing me, and it says loosely left and tightly rightly or something like that, and I can't find the picture now. The way my mind worked was always a conundrum to my husband. He said it was because I was left handed in a right handed world. Could have been right....or left:-)

It's just the opposite in my family A1J1S...I'm the only one who's right handed, so they all tell me I'm the "odd" one. Lol.

Life's not fair sometimes Nikkers! How very unusual for your family to be mostly lefties. My Mum could never watch me using a bread knife - it got me out of some jobs.

I know how your Mum felt A1J1S, I find it very awkward watching my Grandson trying to do/undo a screw or a bottle top - it always looks like the wrong way to me?

Hi nikkers

I was lucky l never felt like that...but l think my Mum used to.

I can remember this so clearly.

My dad was self employed car mechanic and had a workshop below our flat.

She was getting fed up of him always being late for dinner, after all, he only had to walk up the stairs and he was home.

After a couple of weeks of putting up with his lateness...he sat down at the table and Mum dished his dinner up...all over his head !!

We all fell about laughing.....PMS or not..it worked..dad was never late again !!

How funny Velvet.; You see these things on tv etc., but not often in real life. I can imagine how funny it was for the kids to see that. :-D

Hi Nikkers

it was only the once, and my dad and I still laugh about it years later...I guess if it happened today social services would become involved and I would have to see a child councillor !!!!!

PS ..I ran a Pub for many years....every time our locals said the F word..it was 10p in the swear box and 20p for snitching on somebody else... Guide Dogs was our chosen charity, we paid for the training of 6 guide dogs over the years.
